Lens Material

Patented Tajima Urethane™:

  • Our patented urethane lens material is not polycarbonate, nylon, CR-39, or glass.
  • It is a patented and proprietary urethane polarized lens composition made in our lens making factory in Tajima, Japan.
  • It is the first non-comprising polarized lens material featuring the superior optical clarity of glass, and hi-mass impact resistance and light weight of polycarbonate.

Benefits Include:

  • Superior optical clarity
  • Scores a perfect 40 lines of resolution in optical lab testing (the highest possible score for optical clarity) - glass is the only other lens material with a perfect score of 40
  • 5x greater scratch resistance than polycarbonate and nylon
  • Hi velocity / hi mass impact resistant and shatterproof
  • Superior tensile strength to any lens material preventing creep or cracking
  • Lightest weight polarized lens material on the market
  • Zero distortion
  • 99% polarizing efficiency (maximum)
  • 100% UV protection (A,B,C)

Lens Coatings

All Tajima Polarized Lenses Come Standard with the Following Premium Coatings:

  • Dual side hard coat and anti-scratch treatment (Further improving durability and scratch resistance)
  • Rear side multi-layer anti-reflective treatment (Eliminates all bounce back glare for improved comfort & optical clarity)
  • Dual side hydrophobic & oleophobic treatment (Sheds water, oils, dirt, dust, easier to keep clean)
  • Front side mirror treatment (if selected)

If your frames are in good shape, there are a few key reasons to replace your lenses instead of buying a full new pair:
  • Doing your part for our planet and being more sustainable by reusing frames you already have, thereby extending their life and keeping them out of the landfill.
  • You'll be upgrading your glasses as our lenses are guaranteed to be superior to your originals.
  • It's less expensive than buying a complete new pair from a quality brand or your eye doctor.
  • Finally, you can continue to use and enjoy your favorite glasses!
  • All Tajima polarized lenses are made of our patented Tajima Urethane lens material.
  • Tajima Urethane features the optical clarity, sharpness, and detail of glass, but won’t shatter or crack, 5x more scratch resistant than polycarbonate or nylon, and the lightest weight polarized lens material.
  • You can learn more about our lens technology here.
  • There are many elements that go into crafting high quality lenses, specifically lens material and coatings.
  • Our patented Tajima Urethane lens material features the best elements of glass (clarity & scratch resistance) and the best elements of polycarbonate (impact resistance & light weight), without the downsides of each.
  • All of our lenses come standard with all premium coatings, including dual side hard coat and anti-scratch treatment, rear side multi-layer anti-reflective treatment, and dual side hydrophobic & oleophobic treatment.
  • You can learn more about our lens material, coatings, and technologies here.
    • Yes, our polarized lenses have 100% UV protection (A,B,C).
    • If you scroll up, you can click the color dots on the page to explore our lens colors. The images will change to reflect the lens color chosen as well as a description.

This will go out within 24 hours of placing your order, most of the time within a few hours.
    • Once we receive your frames at our lab, it will take us 2-4 business days to turn around your lenses and have them shipping back to you via USPS First Class Shipping.
